This month marks independent film blog indieWIRE’s 15th anniversary and it is celebrating the milestone with a series of special screenings and panels throughout July.  Continuing our series of free events that we began with the launch weekend of our new Film Center, we are excited to host one of these panels, “Distribution in Focus: 15 Years of Evolution,” this Saturday, July 16 at 3:00pm in the Amphitheater of the Elinor Bunin Monroe Film Center.

indieWIRE was born at a time when independent distribution had undergone significant recent changes as a result of the rapid growth of the film festival circuit.  In the fifteen years since, the distribution landscape has continued to shift dramatically with the rise of the DVD and later VOD and web-based models.  And the changes show no signs of slowing. For “Distribution in Focus: 15 Years of Evolution,” the indieWIRE team has assembled an all-star panel of veterans of the distribution arena for a look back at the last 15 years as well as an assessment of the current environment and where they see independent distribution heading in the near future.

Panelists include Richard Abramowitz (Abramorama), Bob and Jeanne Berney (FilmDistrict), Arianna Bocco (IFC), Ira Deutchman (Emerging Pictures), Amy Heller (Milestone), Bingham Ray (SnagFilms) and Mark Urman (Paladin). This is going to be a frank and fascinating discussion that anyone with an interest in distribution, or even someone who just wants to know how and where to see some of the best films made today, won’t want to miss!

This event is free and open to the public. Seats are first-come, first-served – no tickets are required.
