Microbe & Gasoline is a coming-of-age comedy about two friends on a road trip in a homemade caravan. The film had its U.S. premiere at last year’s New York Film Festival, where it was praised by critics. Nicolas Rapold, writing for Brooklyn Magazine, called it “Gondry’s most deeply felt film since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” In one of our NYFF Live Talks, which are sponsored by HBO, Gondry discussed the origins of the project, his beginnings as a music video director, and the difference between making films in the U.S. and France.
