Each year at the New York Film Festival, a filmmaker is invited to take the stage for our annual On Cinema masterclass, in which they present clips of films that have influenced and inspired their work. This year’s event featured the renowned Hou Hsiao-hsien, whose new film The Assassin was a favorite at the festival. The director presented a variety of scenes that left an impact on him, leading to reflective and informative presentation about the art of cinema.
