This year has seen some unprecedented challenges, as well as historic changes in all facets of filmmaking, distribution, and exhibition. Like many others in the film industry, Film at Lincoln Center has had to adapt in the face of this adversity. One way weāve done that is with the introduction of our Virtual Cinema, which ensures that excellent films continue to reach you, their deserving audiences, while our physical theaters remain temporarily closed.Ā To celebrate the remarkable movies that have arrived thus far in 2020, we asked the FLC community on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to share their favorite selections.
We encourage you all to add these deserving films to your watchlist. Selections now playing in the FLC Virtual CinemaĀ includeĀ Abel Ferrara’s Tommaso,Ā Bora Kim’s House of Hummingbird, Bruno Dumont’s Joan of Arc, and Kelly Reichardt’s First Cow. Among the picks were also films that recently ended their runs in the Virtual Cinema, including Bacurau, Deerskin, LibertĆ©, Someone, Somewhere, Vitalina Varela, The Whistlers, A White, White Day. And new work by Garrett Bradley, Eliza Hittman, Spike Lee, Tsai Ming-liang, Christian Petzold, and more made the cut. Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation!
Although our theaters are currently closed, ourĀ Virtual CinemaĀ andĀ Media CenterĀ remain open 24/7. Stay connected to Film at Lincoln Center by joining our online community onĀ Instagram,Ā Twitter, orĀ Facebook, and don’t miss a thing by subscribing to theĀ weekly newsletter.
Since I saw Swallow and Bacurau in 2019 (and other people will mention them) I’m gonna say SHIRLEY for 2020 so far https://t.co/6qCeTcFaft pic.twitter.com/kFrcc4qWXV
