On this week’s podcast, we’re sharing a conversation with acclaimed writer-director Bi Gan, who follows up his knockout debut, Kaili Blues, with Long Day’s Journey Into Night, an immersive art-house sensation that broke box office records in China.

The film is a noir-tinged film about a solitary man (Huang Jue) haunted by loss and regret, told in two parts: the first an achronological detective story, the second a nocturnal dream. The film premiered at last year’s New York Film Festival and it begins its official theatrical run this weekend.

Following its premiere at NYFF, the director joined us for a Q&A. Watch/listen below or click here to subscribe and listen on iTunes.
