Culled from about 100 hours of 16mm footage–archived for the past half-century–Brett Morgen’s new documentary places us intimately with Jane Goodall in her first journey to Tanzania. Following the film’s NYFF premiere, the director and subject discussed the herculean task of poring through Hugo van Lawick’s footage, Goodall’s journey back in 1962, the score by Philip Glass, and more.

Jane opens on November 20, courtesy of National Geographic Documentary Films. To see more events from the 55th New York Film Festival, as well as Film Society events throughout the year, subscribe to our YouTube channel!
