We are excited to announce the launch of the new Film at Lincoln Center Virtual Cinema. The FLC Virtual Cinema will serve as the new home for our curated slate of new releases and restored classics, as well as the virtual screenings of the upcoming 58th New York Film Festival. Powered by Shift72, the FLC Virtual Cinema features a centralized, intuitive interface to conveniently rent and stream films. To celebrate the launch, we’re sharing an easy how-to guide to help you start watching films today!

  • Create an Account
    • It’s important to note that your FLC Virtual Cinema account will be different from your existing Film at Lincoln Center ticketing account. You will need to register for a new account, but we recommend using the email address you used previously. This newly-created account will be used for all virtual rentals, including the 58th New York Film Festival and all runs that open August 21 or later.

  • Browse and Rent Films
    • In honor of the launch week, we’re presenting Ephraim Asili’s Fluid Frontiers free of charge and Christian Petzold’s Transit for just $1.99 ($.99 for members). These NYFF favorites will be available for a one-week-only engagement!
    • Opening today on our virtual platform, check out an FLC-exclusive premiere of Robert Kramer’s newly restored, long unavailable road movie, Route One/USA.
    • Also opening today is a selection of newly restored, resplendent animated films by the great Hungarian animator Marcell Jankovics, including his first two features, János Vitéz and Son of the White Mare—never before released in North America!
    • Holdover titles that opened prior to August 21 will remain available on the distributor’s respective platforms, and can be accessed through the Film at Lincoln Center primary website. These titles include Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets, Change of Life, A Girl Missing, The Green Years, Harmonium, John Lewis: Good Trouble, Mayak, Tomasso, and shorts by Miguel Gomes and Sergei Parajanov.

  • Access Your Rental Library
    • After renting a film, browse your library and click “play.”
    • In addition to desktop and mobile viewing, you can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on an Android TV, or use AirPlay to watch on your Apple TV. You can also connect an HDMI cable from your laptop to your TV. An official app will launch next month for easier viewing.
    • Once you’ve rented a film it will be available to watch in your Library for five days. Once you press “play” the first time, the watch window begins and you have 24 hours to watch the film as many times as you like. If a film’s run is ending in our Virtual Cinema, it will only be viewable until midnight ET on its final day. Please check the film page for more details.
