Los Reyes
Film Comment Selects
February 6 - 10, 2019
Los Reyes (“The Kings”) watches Fútbol and Chola, a furry shepherd mix and some kind of labrador, respectively, as they hang out, play, and generally coexist with the people who are also hanging out and playing on the lawns and concrete ramps of Chile’s first skate park in Santiago.
This screening is presented in partnership with Paw Prints. A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to Hearts & Bones Animal Rescue.
Join us in advance of the screening for a meet and greet starting at 5:30pm with some of Hearts & Bones adoptable dogs, and have your photo taken with them on our rescue dog red carpet!
“Santiago is home to Chile’s first skate park which—in Bettina Perut and Iván Osnovikoff’s wonderful nonfiction film—is home to two resident stray dogs. Los Reyes (“The Kings”) watches Fútbol and Chola, a furry shepherd mix and some kind of labrador, respectively, as they hang out, play, and generally coexist with the people who are also hanging out and playing on the lawns and concrete ramps. Rather than create a Disney fantasy out of the setup, Perut and Osnovikoff weave together two strands that remind us of the reality underlying this urban oasis.” —Nicolas Rapold (Jan/Feb 2019 issue) North American Premiere
Note: You are welcome to join the red carpet meet and greet with adoptable dogs, but dogs are not permitted in the theater.
