At an NYFF Live talk at the 53rd New York Film Festival, sponsored by HBO, cinematographer Ed Lachman joined NYFF Selection Committee member Amy Taubin in a discussion about his work behind the camera. Lachman discussed his career of over four decades shooting narrative and documentary films, including Todd Haynes’ films Far From Heaven, I’m Not There, Mildred Pierce, and his newest Carol, as well as such films as The Virgin Suicides, Erin Brockovich, and Ulrich Seidl’s Paradise trilogy. The cinematographer discussed his approach to visual storytelling, working extensively with Todd Haynes, and shooting on film and digital.
