This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Walter Reade Theater. The theater is now closed and will remain so until September 8, in order to do some long-overdue renovations, including replacing the screen and masking, upgrading one of our Barco projectors to show 4K digital cinema, and performing important maintenance on the lighting and electrical systems that run through the space. When the theater reopens, it will be better than ever, and just in time for the 54th New York Film Festival this fall!

A huge thank you to the generous supporters who named a seat in the theater and all of our Kickstarter backers who helped exceed our goal to replace the theater’s screen.

While the Walter Reade Theater is closed, be sure to visit the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center just across the street for New Releases, Free Talks, and other special events all summer long. If you don’t already, make sure to subscribe to our newsletter for weekly updates about all the exciting stuff we’ve got going on.
