Susan Sarandon named Honorary Chair and Martin Scorsese to present at 39th Chaplin Award Award

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that Susan Sarandon will act as Honorary Chair for this year’s Gala, as well as the initial presenter line up for the upcoming 39th Annual Chaplin Award to include Martin Scorsese, Chiara Mastroianni and Arnaud Desplechin. This year’s Chaplin Award will be presented to Academy Award-nominee Catherine Deneuve on the evening of Monday, April 2, 2012 at Alice Tully Hall. The event will be attended by a host of notable guests and celebrities honoring the film legend’s groundbreaking career and will feature film and television clips commemorating her prolific career, culminating in the presentation of The Chaplin Award. FSLC kicks off two new monthly film series, ART OF THE REAL and INDIE NIGHT

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is proud to announce two new monthly series spotlighting up and coming directors. ART OF THE REAL, is a new monthly documentary showcase that will take audiences on a tour of the most innovative and consciousness-raising, non-fiction filmmaking being made in the world today. INDIE NIGHT will spotlight the best and boldest new wave of independent cinema. In keeping with the tradition of supporting and showcasing emerging filmmakers, this new series will also be shaped by notable guest curators who hail from the American indie vanguard. Family Films continue with March and April lineup of films with French twist

To coincide with the annual upcoming program Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, the Family Films series will have a decidedly French point of view for the March and April lineup as it moves from winter to spring. With colorful films from France as well as some lively American musicals set in Paris there will be laughs, music and merriment. Amy Taubin joins NYFF Selection Committee; March/April lineup announced for 50 Years of NYFF series

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that Amy Taubin will be joining the New York Film Festival Selection Committee. Taubin replaces critic Dennis Lim who concluded his three-year term. FSLC's year-long countdown to the New York Film Festival’s historic 50th edition continues through March and April, offering the rare opportunity to view several undisputed classics of the big screen, many of which were introduced to the world at NYFF. These include breakthrough films by Tarkovsky, Jackie Chan, Clint Eastwood, Michael Moore and a tribute to the late Raul Ruiz.
