NewFest in Partnership with Outfest and FSLC announce Lineup for 24th New York LGBT Film Festival

NewFest (www.newfest.org), New York's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Film Festival will soon roll out the rainbow carpet for its 24th season, from Friday, July 27th through Tuesday, July 31st. The stellar lineup includes fourteen narrative features, four documentaries and many anticipated short films. New this year, all screenings and panels will take place at Manhattan's film mecca, The Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater, marking a continued relationship between the two pioneering film organizations. Stellar Line-Up Includes Josh Sanchez’ Opening Night Film FOUR and Marialy Rivas’ Closing Night Film YOUNG AND WILD. Festival guests include actors Wendell Pierce and Emory Cohen (FOUR) as well as noted documentarian Macky Alston (LOVE FREE OR DIE); new films star Olympia Dukakis, Christine Lahti, Thora Birch, Michael Urie, and Brenda Fricker, among others. VULGARIA will be the Opening Night Presentation, DOOMSDAY BOOK and GUNS AND ROSES makes their North American Premieres as the Centerpiece Selections and POTECHI (CHIPS) makes its North American Premiere as the Closing Night Presentation. Highlights will include the presentation of the 2012 Star Asia Lifetime Achievement Award to Chung Chang-Wha, the 2012 Star Asia Award Donnie Yen, and the 2012 Star Asia Rising Star Award to Michelle Chen and Masami Nagasawa. The 2012 Human Rights Watch Film Festival, June 14-28, Program of 16 Films from 12 Countries

The 23rd annual Human Rights Watch Film Festival returns to New York from June 14 to 28 with a program of powerful human stories of oppression, injustice, and resilience from across the globe. Sixteen documentary and fiction films from 12 countries will be screened, including 14 New York premieres. A co-presentation of Human Rights Watch and the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the festival will be held at the Film Society’s Walter Reade Theater. FSLC announces lineup for annual leading North American Showcase – OPEN ROADS: NEW ITALIAN CINEMA

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the lineup for their annual showcase of Italian Cinema, Open Roads: New Italian Cinema, which will take place from June 8-14. This year’s lineup includes impressive debuts, a return of favorite filmmakers as well as several award winners including TERRAFERMA, Special Jury Prize winner at the 2011 Venice Film Festival and LÀ-BAS: A CRIMINAL EDUCATION, Winner of “Lion of the Future” award at the 2011 Venice Film Festival. A diverse selection of titles also includes comedies such as STEP INTO PARADISE, ESCORT IN LOVE and the return of genre cinema with THE LEGEND OF KASPAR HAUSER starring Vincent Gallo and THE ARRIVAL OF WANG. Submissions are being accepted for the 50th NY Film Festival; 50 Years of NYFF series continues

The Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced today that the submission process for the 50th New York Film Festival is now open. For its 50th New York Film Festival, filmmakers are invited to submit their shorts, feature films, and Views from the Avant-Garde films for early submission until May 25, regular submission by June 22 and late submission by July 15. As we countdown to NYFF’s historic 50th edition in 2012, the Film Society is also proud to present an on-going screening series of highlights from the festival’s first 49 years, as curated by past and present members of the NYFF selection committee. FSLC announces new summer Midnight Movies series

The Film Society of Lincoln Center introduced the addition of a Summer Midnight Movies series to their weekly programming. Led by a screening of Casey Pugh’s STAR WARS UNCUT, a fan-generated shot-by-shot remake of STAR WARS: EPISODE IV—A NEW HOPE on Friday, June 1, the series’ first announced offerings will include such late-night classics as Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, Sam Raimi’s THE EVIL DEAD and EVIL DEAD II, and Ralph Bakshi’s FRITZ THE CAT. FSLC announces PAST AND PROLOGUE: THE FILMS OF RIDLEY SCOTT

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today a complete retrospective of three-time Oscar-nominee Ridley Scott, whose career began in the 70’s and who has continued to excite and enchant audiences with his remarkable storytelling ability. FSLC announces lineup for COWARD ON FILM in conjunction with citywide NOËL COWARD festival

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the schedule for COWARD ON FILM (May 11-13), which will run in conjunction with the ongoing citywide festival STAR QUALITY: THE WORLD OF NOËL COWARD honoring the British playwright, actor, director and composer. The series will trace the breadth of his film work, which ranges from British silent and sound adaptations of his early plays to the later prestige productions of his works made in Hollywood.
