FSLC to embark on a BRAZILIAN SAGA: CARLOS DIEGUES’ CINEMATIC ADVENTURES

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today a BRAZILIAN SAGA: CARLOS DIEGUES’ CINEMATIC ADVENTURES, a comprehensive survey of the groundbreaking filmmaker’s work, from April 12 – 18. A pioneer of the revolutionary Cinema Novo movement, which made film an integral part of the cultural and sociopolitical struggles facing Brazil in the 60’s. President Bill Clinton to present the 40th annual Chaplin Award to Barbra Streisand on April 22

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that President Bill Clinton will present the 40th Chaplin Award to Academy Award-winner Barbra Streisand, the first American woman artist to receive credit as writer, director, producer and star of a major feature film, YENTL, during a Gala Ceremony held at Lincoln Center on the evening of Monday, April 22, 2013. FSLC announces FOXY, THE COMPLETE PAM GRIER, March 15-17

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced details today for the upcoming film series, Foxy, The Complete Pam Grier (March 15-17). Screening at the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street) and the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (144 West 65th Street), and highlighted by the attendance of Grier at several screenings, the film series includes such fan favorites and notable classics as THE BIG BIRD CAGE (1972), COFFY (1973), ESCAPE FROM LA (1996), FOXY BROWN (1974), and GREASED LIGHTNING (1977), as well as JACKIE BROWN (1997) featuring her Golden Globe and SAG Award nominated performance in the title role. FSLC announces lineup for 13th edition of Film Comment Selects

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the lineup for the upcoming 13th edition of FILM COMMENT SELECTS (February 18-28), Film Comment magazine’s essential and eclectic film festival. Featuring a lineup of the coming soon and the never-coming-back, the rare and the rediscovered, the unclassifiable and the underrated, these films are hand-picked by the magazine’s editors and contributors from their travels around the international festival circuit. This annual feast of cinephilia of all stripes has something for everyone. The Film Society of Lincoln Center will kick off a daily radio program tomorrow from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival called Film Society’s Daily Buzz with Eugene Hernandez. MoMA and FSLC Announce Seven Official Selections for the 42nd edition of New Directors/New Films

The Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center today announced seven official selections for the 2013 New Directors/New Films Festival (ND/NF) (March 20–31).
